Sports Massage

Alex is an enthusiastic and dedicated massage therapist, driven by her passion to help people become more aware of their own impact on their body and mind.

She graduated from Oxford School of Sports Massage and was awarded with the Level 5 BTEC Professional Diploma in Clinical Sport & Remedial Massage. She currently studies Visceral Manipulation at the Barral Institute.

Working with Oxford University Woman’s Lightweight Rowing Club (OUWRLC) she supported their intense training programme in Oxford and Coimbra (Portugal) which concluded with a spectacular win of the 2014 Oxford vs Cambridge Henley Boat Race.

For more information about the techniques Alex uses visit www.oxfordmt.co.uk/

Working with the squad of professional athletes, and treating members of general public at the same time, helped Alex appreciate that the methods primarily designed for competitive sports can be extremely effective in treating a wide range of soft tissue problems caused by every-day, non-sport related activities.

Alex meditates regularly and she has been using sports massage techniques to help other like-minded people in releasing tensions, lengthening muscles and correcting posture to be able to meditate without knee pain and back tension.

Each of Alex’s treatments is suited to the requirements of the client’s particular lifestyle, occupation and personal preferences. The first treatment would usually address immediate tensions and problem areas. Subsequent treatments are aimed at restoring balance in the body, taking into consideration all the factors that might be involved in the current condition.

Alex works with Sports Injury Therapy, Remedial Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Muscle Energy Techniques (Post Isometric Relaxation, Reciprocal Inhibition), Neuro-Muscular (Trigger Point) Therapy, Soft Tissue Release, Positional Release, Connective Tissue Massage.

Testimonials from Oxford University Women’s Lightweight Rowing Club:

“Without Alex's help I definitely would not have got through a full rowing season without injury. She was fantastic at professionally treating minor niggles before they developed further, diagnosing the problem and treating it with a range of techniques, with instantly great results! I'm very grateful to Alex for all her help, and furthermore really enjoyed my treatment sessions!”

Joanna Green, OUWLRC

“Alex spent most of the season as part of our sports massage therapy team and I’m sure that part of our success was thanks to her hard work on our sometimes reluctant and exhausted muscles. There was never a problem too big or too small for her to work on and if we didn’t find the right solution straight away, I knew she would be pouring over books in the evening to make sure she found the right treatment in time for the next session. Alex’s enthusiasm and competence made me comfortable going to her regardless of my injury/niggle and I knew she understood the requirements of my training and adapted her treatment depending on what we had on our plate over the next few days.”

Kirstin Bilham, OUWLRC

“Alex is a confident and friendly massage therapist, who is knowledgeable about a wide range of sports injuries and niggles. She has always managed to sooth my aches and gave me some great stretches to work out problem areas as well. Would wholeheartedly recommend Alex!”

Sarah-Jane Littleford, OUWLRC

Testimonials from private clients:

Very talented body worker. With Alex I felt a great recovery and development. Her technique is really acute and is able to direct the right intent to where it is need. Thank you, Alex. I can't wait for our next session.

Ricardo Assis Rosa, Architect

I have a quite complicated lower back problem, mainly caused by my spine so I was in doubt that sport massage can help at all. However, the treatment which was carefully selected for my needs, eased the back pain straight away. It also created a lovely feeling of relaxation. Alex is very professional and knew exactly how to help me.

Being a digital artist, I have to spend many hours in front of the computer, and I was looking for a therapist - actually for quite a long time - to treat my back pain. The trouble is that seemingly my back is made out of concrete, and nobody seemed to have the right technique to deal with it, and I tried at least 4-5 different therapists. Therefore I cannot tell how grateful I was to discover the specialised therapy of Alex, so far she is the only one who could really get rid of the pain.

Istvan Prem, 3D Artist

“When Alex massaged me for first time I was recovering from a very long trip on my sports bike (very uncomfortable riding position), and she miraculously put me together in literally no time. I am going to a 1,000 miles trip soon so I am definitely going to use her services again. She is the best at what she does and she always does an amazing job of restoring my muscles.”

Petr Bauer, Safety Test Engineer/Biker

“Alex massage really did me well. I was super stressed from work, pregnant and tired. My back hurt from sitting in an office chair in front of the computer all day long. When she massaged me my thoughts calmed down and my breath became deeper. All that strain fell off. After the massage I felt light again, completely relaxed and relieved. I wish I could have that every day!“
