About Laura

Laura trained with Dr. Deepika Rodrigo, of the Ayurvedic Institute in London, developing a deep understanding of the beautiful tradition of Ayurvedic healing, and how it can be applied in a Western culture and society.

She believes that incorporating Ayurveda into everyday life helps individuals to reach their fullest health, creative and spiritual potential. Laura is furthering her training in Ayurveda and is currently studying, and soon to be qualified in Ayurvedic Lifestyle and Nutrition. As a trained yoga teacher she also runs classes and workshops throughout Oxford. Her self-practice of Ashtanga and Vinyasa Krama yoga, and Vipassana meditation are great influences on her approach to clients and seeking holistic solutions to life’s imbalances.

Ayurvedic Massage Therapy

Ayurvedic Massage therapy is just one aspect of the holistic Ayurvedic system, and specialises in identifying and treating current doshic imbalances of the individual, otherwise known as Vikruti.

A treatment will consist of a short consultation in which various areas of health and lifestyle are discussed, from sleep patterns and physical ailments, to energy levels and emotional state.

In recognising the aggravated dosha specific base and therapeutic oils are selected, warmed and applied to the skin. Pressure is placed on specific marma (vital) points throughout the body, in combination with chakra balancing techniques. These methods act to calm the mind and rebalance the aggravated dosha helping to cleanse, regenerate and strengthen the body.

Clients often feel a great sense of inner-peace and nurturing and here are some of the specific ailments successfully treated by Ayurvedic massage:

Vata Disorders – insomnia, anxiety and panic attacks, lower back pain, sciatica, fatigue

Pitta Disorders – stress/anger, hot flushes, skin disorders, hormonal imbalances

Kapha Disorders – weight gain, water retention, lethargy, lack of motivation, excessive sleep
