Acupuncture and Craniosacral Therapy Oxford

Emily works with an attentive and caring approach to help support physical, mental and emotional health. Emily is a qualified Acupuncturist and Craniosacral therapist and works with both these modalities in her clinic at eau de vie.

Emily has a particular interest in women's healthcare; supporting women with menstrual problems, hormonal imbalance, transition into the menopause, with menopausal symptoms and supporting the gynaecological and hormonal systems in order to aid natural and assisted conception. Alongside Jess Buck, Emily set up and runs the Women's Clinic - A multi bed Acupuncture clinic based at Eau de Vie.

Emily is committed to ongoing professional development. She has undertaken further studies in Acupuncture for Gynaecology and Fertility, Embryology, Dermatology and Cosmetic Acupuncture, Reiki I and II. She has attended further education seminars and workshops including 'working with IVF', Applications of abdominal massage for dysmenorrhea (period pain), structural and postural assessment, and an introduction to using myofascial release techniques.

Her dedication to and enthusiasm for yoga enriches her awareness of the body's great capacity to change and heal of its own accord. It helps her to maintain a presence of mind and focus in the treatment room.

Prior to training as an acupuncturist, Emily completed a degree in Psychology and Performing Arts (in specific relation to community and education). Her past studies continue to inform her present work in caring for the body-mind.

She is fully insured and registered with the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC). For more information about Emily visit www.emilycarson.co.uk. For more information on the BAcC please visit www.acupuncture.org.uk

Acupuncture is an ancient system of Chinese Medicine. According to traditional Chinese philosophy, our health is dependent on the body's motivating energy - known as qi - moving in a smooth and balanced way through a series of meridians (channels) beneath the skin.

The flow of qi can be disturbed by many physical, mental and emotional factors. By inserting very fine needles into the channels of energy, acupuncture can stimulate the body's own healing response and help to restore its natural balance.

Alongside traditional acupuncture, treatment incorporates Chinese massage, moxibustion and cupping therapy which she studied at the renowned College of Integrated Chinese Medicine (CICM). For more information on the CICM training see their website at http://www.acupuncturecollege.org.uk/.

Emily also practices Reiki. A subtle yet powerful system of healing which facilitates deep relaxation and can promote and support acupuncture treatment.

"I have been having treatment with Emily over the last 9 months and have found the treatment and sessions extremely beneficial. I first went to Emily for help with an ongoing leg pain and lately to help with fertility and now to support me through pregnancy. The acupuncture has helped on both the physical and emotional level. Since having acupuncture with Emily I feel more balanced emotionally and have most definitely benefited physically from the sessions. I always feel Emily is totally focussed on the treatment and spends time out of our sessions researching the appropriate treatment plan to suit me – I really feel Emily gives her all to our sessions. I find the sessions are also a great space to relax and take some time out"
